Fife’s communities awarded for their beautiful efforts

Fife’s community volunteers were celebrated at the Beautiful Fife awards ceremony last night (Wednesday) to thank them for their marvellous efforts in keeping Fife looking beautiful!
Local communities gathered at the Rothes Halls with Provost of Fife Jim Leishman to be honoured in the Beautiful Fife Towns celebration.
The communities were judged earlier this summer and were assessed on horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community involvement. The overall category winners for 2017 are:
- Best Wee Village – Kilconquhar
- Best Small Village – Towhill, Limekilns, Charleston tie
- Best Large Village – Falkland
- Best Coastal Village – Aberdour

- Best Small Town – Inverkeithing
- Best Medium Town -Cupar
Keith Jackson, Parks & Community Events Officer said: “The Beautiful Fife Campaign continues to encourage communities to enhance their local environment and I am amazed at the innovation and commitment the participating communities demonstrate.
“Communities are judges on environmental responsibility as well as community involvement and horticultural achievement. In these continually challenging times the communities throughout Fife demonstrate such a high quality commitment to floral enhancement that the public can’t fail to notice.
“The success of Fife communities is reflected in the participation in Britain in Bloom where Kilconquhar and Kirkcaldy were invited to represent Scotland in their respective categories this year and the results of their efforts will be known at the end of October.”
