Wildlife Calendar- May

What’s happening this month?

The long warm days of May are when there is a lot of activity in nature.

Birds will be very busy establishing territories or feeding young.

Bees are seeking pollen to feed their brood too.

Insects are at the bottom of the food web and are important for birds, bats, hedgehogs and many other creatures- so perhaps if we look after the insects everything else can look after itself! The best ways to do this is by how you manage your garden:

  • Long flowering and pollen rich plants.
  • Reduce the amount of chemicals you use and let nature sort out the pests.
